A Brief History about Jeff

Jeff Odell, Walker’s purchasing and planning manager, thrives on challenging the status quo in pursuit of healthier, more effective ways to serve Walker’s customers, partners and his coworkers. An adventurous, versatile and competitive person by nature, Jeff approaches his role with a desire to serve and teach others. Being part of a team and feeling camaraderie with his coworkers is very important to Jeff.

His journey into the world of business began in high school, where he excelled in business competitions. Jeff enrolled in Colorado State University, where he studied business with an emphasis in leadership and supply chain management. There, Jeff especially enjoyed his negotiations and conflict management class, acquiring valuable skills that would ultimately transfer over to both his personal and his professional life.

Jeff’s background includes experience in business operations, manufacturing, supply chain and project management. The most rewarding aspect of Jeff’s career so far has been the privilege of coaching and promoting a number of individuals into leadership positions. He finds it extremely rewarding to see an individual grow and find confidence in their strengths so they can impact others in the same way. Jeff believes that learning is accomplished by doing. He would advise others to find a good mentor, to take risks through trial and error, and to do one thing each day to push beyond a personal comfort zone.

Jeff appreciates Walker’s core belief to always love people and use money (not the inverse), and sees it as a unique value in today’s business world. He is convinced that when employees are cared for and supported in an organization, they will do what it takes to care for both the organization and its customers. Jeff believes this is one of the best competitive advantages a business can have.

He defines success as loving God and loving people, and serving others is a priority for him. Character is also important to Jeff, and he would like to be seen as virtuous, adventurous, and approachable. Developing character in his five young children is important to Jeff and his wife, Leah. Their children are a source of great joy and pride as they watch them grow. Jeff and Leah are actively passing on a sense of adventure to their children. As a family, they enjoy spending time together exploring Colorado's beautiful outdoors while hiking, camping, skiing, and backpacking.

Jeff would like to be known for his integrity and approachability, as well as his sense of adventure and a willingness to do the right thing. He wants to be really good at being a husband, a father and an employee. And he wants to soak in the journey instead of only focusing on the next finish line.
