Walker’s Tooling Design Engineer designs and supports fabricating fixtures and tooling. The primary focus is on manual and robotic welding tools. This position also occasionally contributes to tooling projects in other departments. The Tool Design Engineer serves as a key partner and liaison between the Design Engineering and Manufacturing teams, focusing on empowering innovation through design engineering while protecting manufacturability and efficiency.
 
Skilled at setting up and operating machine tools such as CNC, lathes and mills to produce precision metal parts. Ensure products meet precise specifications.
 
Ability to operate saws, punches, press brakes, and other equipment to shape andprepare mower components. This role requires accuracy, mechanical skills, and adherence to safety and quality standards.
 
Responsible for hanging and unloading parts from the powder coat line, applying coatings, and ensuring a durable, high-quality finish. Progression includes learning booth spraying techniques, troubleshooting coating issues, and maintaining wash and line systems.
 
Responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining press brakes to bend and form metal workpieces according to specifications. This includes selecting appropriate tooling, programming the machine (if required), and inspecting finished parts to ensure quality.
 
Ability to assemble mowers or decks according to established specifications and instructions. Perform final checks and adjustments for any defects to ensure high quality Walker mowers and decks are produced.
 
Responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining Panasonic robotic welding equipment to produce mower components. Must be able to troubleshoot weld defects, program new parts, and support process improvements.
 
Must be able to expertly MIG weld and inspect welded parts for Walker mowers and decks, using various welding equipment, with the ability to follow patterns and perform quality checks.
